Meet Elena Michaels. She's an up-and-coming photographer based in Toronto ... and the only woman who ever survived being bitten by a werewolf and thusly became a werewolf herself. This double life of hers is best represented by two men ...

The first being Philip McAdams, a marketing wizard and Elena's boyfriend of six months. Elena's making a go at a "normal" life with Philip, though that's easier said than done when she has a tumultuous past (and soon to be present) with ...

... Clay Danvers, a brilliant anthropology professor and the main muscle of the Danvers family, the official 'Pack' in the world of werewolves. Several years ago, Elena was his assistant, and they fell in love, and ... well, love leads to biting, ain't that always the way?

The Danvers make their home at Stonehaven, an isolated estate in upstate New York, lorded over by the Pack Alpha, Jeremy. Elena is pulled back into this world when a 'mutt' (a term for rogue werewolves who don't abide by Pack laws) kills a local woman. Elena, an orphan since she was five years old, has always longed for a family ... though she doesn't feel like she belongs in this one.

Elena reluctantly responds to Jeremy's call and gathers with the rest of the Pack to begin hunting down the murderous mutt, who's apparently newly bitten. Elena's return makes for some heavy sexual tension between her and Clay, at whom she's still angry for turning her into a monster.

The murders continue, including that of a little boy whose body is left on Stonehaven property. The Pack starts tracking down mutts for questioning, such as Zachary Cain, a car thief ...

… and Karl Marsten, a suave con man who claims he can find out who bit and subsequently 'made' the new mutt. Everyone knows Marsten can't be trusted, so what's his end game?

Elena tracks down the new mutt and confronts him in a club, where he transforms (REAL werewolves don't need a full moon to change, ya know) and causes all kinds of wolfy chaos until a collision with the front end of a truck puts an end to his reign of terror.

Everyone thinks that's the end to the violence ... until a relative of the Danvers, Peter Myers, is found brutally murdered. There's apparently more than one mutt with a serious beef against the Pack out there.

Elena once again has to leave her "normal" life with Philip, to whom she's had to lie about her true business in Stonehaven. As far as Philip knows, his sexy but secretive girlfriend is grieving over a cousin who died in a car accident. How long can Elena keep the truth from Philip?

Elena picks up a faint scent that leads her and Clay to a run-down hotel room, where they discover clues that reveal someone's transforming criminals into werewolves and turning them loose on the pack. Criminals like …

Scott Brandon, a rapist who recently escaped from a Tennessee prison and more recently was smushed by a truck. And ...

Thomas Leblanc, a murderer who keeps a scrapbook of obits of the women he's tortured and killed ...

... and Victor Olson, a pedophile recently released on parole who's got a personal vendetta against Elena for being one of his victims who testified against him. Zachary Kane and Philip Marsten seem to be the mutts responsible for transforming this motley group of psychos into hairy angry beasts, and they appear to be taking orders from ...

Daniel Santos, a snotty brat in a cheap suit with a grudge against Clay for killing his brother … and the hots for Elena. Santos is power-hungry and wants to be the new Pack Alpha with Elena as his bride, but who's the REAL mastermind behind this attack against the Pack?

The Pack suffers another heartbreaking blow when Antonio Sorrentino, father of the hotheaded but loyal Nick, is murdered by Santos during a mutt ambush.

Elena's "cousin," Logan, faces a difficult decision when his girlfriend, Rachel, becomes pregnant with a son. Pack law dictates that Logan must take the boy from his mother and raise him with the Pack ... but Logan might want his own shot at a "normal" life.

Meanwhile, Elena finds it harder to resist her true nature as, overcome with emotion amidst all this violence and chaos, she rekindles her romance with Clay. What does this mean for her "normal" life back in Toronto with Philip?

Tensions boil over at Elena's debut photography show, where Victor Olson shows up and taunts his former victim. Philip attacks this monster from Elena's past, finally destroying all of Elena's attempts to keep him out of this part of her life.

The truth comes crashing in on Philip after he's attacked by Santos and Olson at his apartment as witnesses the wolf that comes to his rescue transforming into his girlfriend. And here he just thought Elena was involved with the Mafia or something!

Elena is heartbroken to leave her life with Philip, but she vows her unwavering loyalty to the Pack. She tracks down Olson and leaves him bleeding to death in a bathtub ...

... and dispatches with Leblanc when the mutts raid Stonehaven, with a little unexpected help from Marsten, who's had a change of heart. Is he sincere, or is this just another con? Time will tell!

The battle is won when Elena breaks Santos' heart, literally ...

... but not the war, as the mastermind behind all of this is revealed to be Malcolm Danvers, Jeremy's abusive father and former Pack Alpha who was thought to be dead. Malcolm promises his son that he's only just begun ...

... and his nefarious plans involve Rachel, whom he's kidnapped, along with her unborn werewolf son. (That’s Malcolm's minion Nate Parker on the right.)

Season One ends on a gruesome note as Elena, who's settling into life with the Pack and Clay, is grimly reminded of her attempt at a "normal" life when she finds Philip's severed head in her bed. Her scream of terror and rage takes us into Season Two!
