WARNING: If you don't want to know what happened in this episode, don't read this photo recap!
We pick up this week pretty much right where we left off. The gang comes to in the grass and realizes Vanessa is gone, so it's time to go find her! Axel takes charge right away, saying that the guys who took her were not, in fact, military. His authority is challenged though by Scarlett, who completely redirects their journey. Another Van Helsing was probably the last thing he wanted.

Not long into their journey the group gets pulled over by a handful of police officers (did we know there were still police?). The cops claim they were just curious about other folks on the road and scoff at their plans to head to Denver before inviting them back to town. Yeah, this is a trap, right?

Before the group is allowed inside the bunker/town, they have to surrender their weapons which they do, surprisingly. Of course, none of them is exactly happy about it, or buying into the whole "overly cautious" schtick. And, of course, Scarlett doesn't quite surrender EVERY weapon.

Lucky and Flesh are still trekking through the woods, searching for Mohamad who they know has been taken by Sam. Before they find their friend, though, they stumble onto Dimitri and his minions, including their new recruits, who have captured a bunch of their old friends. They watch helplessly as one of them is killed and Flesh decides they need to help them before they move on.

A tour of the facility brings the rag tag group into the "heart" of their new waystation, the armory, which is really really well stocked and Walt, their host, is very excited about all the guns. Axel asks if they might be willing to share (or trade) some bullets, since they're running low, but Walt is NOT having that. He offers them food, a shower, a place to sleep and some gas and then they're gone in the morning. Hospitality only goes so far.
355960
Of course, our band of heroes aren't exactly going to take no for an answer, now are they? After all, they're about to go up against some well armed men in a helicopter. Axel assures Scarlett that they'll be leaving with some of those weapons, but first, why pass up a good meal?
355961
Axel and Scarlett offer to help with dinner. Of course, they don't realize what they're in for when they walk back into the kitchen. Where do you find an endless supply of meat in a Vampire Apocalypse? From Vampires, obviously. We don't know if they're aware of this, but Vampires are (or used to be) people. Yay, cannibalism?
355962
Axel and Scarlett are appropriately grossed out. Walt defends their food source, talking about how tasty it is (yuck) as he and the others grab the vamp, nail her to the table and quasi-kill her before popping her in the smoker (again, yuck).
355963
Dimitri and his minions stop for the night - after all the prisoners need rest and dead humans eventually leads to dead vampires - which offers Flesh and Lucky the perfect chance to mount their rescue. Of course, even vampires have a night watch; but oddly, while they're caught letting the prisoners go, they don't actually stop them.
355964
Cannibalism is the signal to our heroes that maybe it's time to get the hell out of dodge. Scarlett and Axel make a break for the armory while Doc does some different practical thieving (toilet paper!) and Julius heads to the kitchen to kill the dinner. Julius' humanity nearly does them in too when he gets caught by (and kills) Big Mama.
355965
Did I say nearly? While they manage to make it back to Wanda just fine, killing one of their own has set the folks in the bunker on edge. They manage to capture and tie up our heroes and we discover that Walt isn't just a misogynist, he's also a racist!
355966
Scarlett manages to get an upper hand thanks to her handy hidden knife … for about 5 seconds before getting a 12-gauge pointed at her head. In an effort to keep Scarlett alive, Julius comes clean about his vampiric past, then Doc, then Axel, as they spread the legend of Vanessa. Doesn't help though. The response is just "I wonder what they taste like" which, admittedly, you had to see coming.
355967
So now it's time for a test to see if they're really human or vampires in disguise and for this we're taking a page out of the Malleus Maleficarum and the Salem Witch Trials. They string the whole group up on the roof and toss them off one by one. If they die, then they were humans. If they live, they they were vampires and they get eaten. Foolproof, really.
355968
The "trial" is cut short by the arrival of the Sisterhood. Despite Scarlett's warnings, our local idiots decide to "go down and talk to them" which is probably not the greatest idea. Of course, we'll have to wait to find out because that's where this week ends.
