What's your poison?
Quench your thirst with our list of Syfy character-inspired drinkage below. Mingle and imbibe!
1. The Expanse: Miller's Whiskey Sphere
Ice ball cocktail tools:
- Whiskey Ball ice sphere mold
- Large syringe with needle
- Freezer
Cocktail ingredients:
- Whiskey
Sure, the set up for this one kind of defeats Miller's drinking MO, which is pretty much along the lines of "if it's booze it's going down the hatch," but how else are you going to make a beverage that mimics the gravitational forces of zero-G? Check out this blog for the easiest method of preparing the hollow ice sphere and then load it up with some whiskey. Your friends will be amazed at your dedication and newfound hangups on the girl that you've never met but have become strangely obsessed with.
2. The Expanse: Holden's Dark Moon
- 3 oz cold-brew coffee
- 1.5 oz coffee liqueur
- 1.5 oz spiced rum
- 3 oz shot Coca-Cola, preferably Mexican
- 1.5 oz heavy cream
- ice
As if Holden is going to forego any oppourtinity to have some delicious Earth-grown coffee! Combine the rum, coffee liqueur and cold-brew and pour over ice. Slowly pour the Coco-Cola on top. Delicately float the cream and watch it dance in a stunning and dangerous interplanetary display that really brings to the forefront your reluctant hero tendencies.
3. Wynonna Earp: Doc's Kitchen Sink
- Whatever you've got
Host a party. In the morning, while you're cleaning up and taking care of all of the wounded soldiers that have managed to escape the ravaging thirst of your guests, pour all of the beer, wine, liquor and spirits into a large jug. Pour over ice and garnish with a lemon. It won't be pretty, but it will be free.
4. Wynonna Earp: Waverly's Bubblegum Bitchslap
- 1 oz Bubblegum vodka
- 1 splash 7-Up
- 1 oz gin
- 1 oz Everclear
- 1 oz light rum
- 4oz lemonade
Combine rum, gin, vodka and lemonade in a shaker and shake the everliving bajeezus out of it. Pour over ice and splash a little 7-Up (The Seven, get it?) on top. It's pretty and delicate and it bites like a kick in the teeth that will leave your ancestors with a nasty hangover.
5. Wynonna Earp: Wynonna's Peacemaker
- 1 oz Bitters
- 1.5 oz Campari
- 3 oz Bourbon
What better way to let the bones of your great-great-grandpappy rest than by pouring yourself a drink that will silence even the most active of haunting revenants? No frills, just pure booze. It's like having a locked and loaded pistol in your hand that shoots out inebriation.
6. The Magicians: Eliot's King "Cock"Tail
- 1 oz Belvedere
- ½ oz Grand Marnier
- ½ oz lime juice
- 1 splash Triple Sec
- 3-4 oz champagne
- 1-2 dashes aromatic bitters
A royal cocktail for the King of Fillory. Even though Eliot may busy with his kingly duties of creating a worthy heir to the throne (i.e banging the blacksmith's daughter), you can be sure he still has time to mix up some killer cocktails ... and this one reeks of decadance. Add Belvedere, Grand Marnier and Triple Sec and shake over ice. Stir in champage and pour into a crystal flute (plastic is for plebes). Splash n' Dash the lime juice and the bitters. Pity people that aren't you and Margot.
7. The Magicians: Margot's Queen M
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
- 1 large pinch saffron threads (about 1/4 teaspoon)
- 1/4 cup Everclear (or other high-proof clear alcohol)
Create tincture. Combine the cinnamon, saffron and Everclear in a small jar and let sit for 3-5 days. Strain.
Per drink:
- 1 oz Lillet Blanc
- 1/2 oz St. Germain elderflower liqueur
- 1/2 oz fresh strained lemon juice
- ice
- prosecco
- tincture
Overly complicated, gorgeous, with a sharp bite and something you'd be damn lucky to take to bed. Sound like anyone you know? Combine the Lillet, St. Germain and lemon in a glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice. Stir for a few seconds to combine and chill it down, then strain into a tumbler filled with ice. Add about 10 drops of tincture (more or less depending on how much spice you want) and top with prosecco and a twist of grapefruit peel.
8. The Sharknado
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 1/2 oz spiced rum
- 1/2 oz light rum
- 1/2 oz Blue Curacao
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- Limes Regular
- 2 cups ice cubes
- Grenadine syrup
A gory blue drink with a few drops of blood (grenadine) for good measure. This drink will have you saying "The Second One" please, and then "Oh Hell No!" Throw all the ingrediants in a cup, the messier the better. Float the grenadine on top and revel in your bloody awesome creation.
9. 12 Monkeys: Cole's Old-Fashioned
- 1 sugar cube
- 1.5 oz Rye whiskey
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Lemon
- Orange Peel
What do you get the man from the future who has nothing? Just a simple cocktail from a not-so-bygone era. In a rocks glass, muddle both sugars, both bitters and the water. Add the whiskey and a large ice cube. Twist slices of lemon and orange peel over the drink and drop them in. Stare at drink with your otter eyes and lament the girl you've fallen for.
10. Hunters: McCarthy's Ginger Rabbit
- 1/2 oz Star Anise and Black Tea Infused Simple Syrup
- 1 slice fresh ginger
- 1 strip lemon peel
- 2 oz Basil Hayden’s Bourbon
- 1/2 oz Crème Yvette
- 1 dash Angostura Bitters
Syrup and ginger go in a mixing glass. Muddle the lemon peel in a glass. Add the remaining ingredients and fill with ice. Stir and strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Make sure to garnish with the freshest rabbit's foot you have (if it's pulsing you're doing it right). Grow out a set of dreadlocks and DJ a strange alien-calling rockfest while imbibing this tasty libation to welcome our new alien overlords properly.
