Happy! Snags Christopher Meloni For Lead Role
The story of a man and his new imaginary friend.
There are a lot of detective shows on TV ... but none like Syfy's upcoming Happy!, which will take the crime genre we're familiar with and flip it on its head.
Joining the party will be Christopher Meloni in the role of Nick Sax, a former detective turned jaded alcoholic who hits rock bottom and makes the transition to mob-hired killer. Long story short, a job goes bad and Sax's life takes another sharp turn as he's suddenly partnered up with an impossibly cheery blue-winged unicorn, the imaginary friend of a young girl who's been kidnapped by a sexual predator in a Santa suit.
If that last part's not enough to get you to watch, we don't know what is!
The role will allow Meloni to mix the not-necessarily-by-the-book tactics he utilized as Detective Elliot Stabler on Law and Order: SVU with the ruthless killer he played on Oz. Meloni's recent work includes starring in WGN's Underground as well as reprising his role of Jonas/Gene in Netflix's Wet Hot American Summer.
Happy! is based on the graphic novel by Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson with Morrison and Brian Taylor (Crank, Gamer) serving as executive producers.
